Installation of E1 cables at THS between FIU-19 and SAXC
This work instruction is for the
installation of E1 cables between the Flexihopper IDU (indoor unit)
and the SAXC (stand alone ATM cross-connect) at THS (transmission
high sites)
At the THS the
Flexihopper IDU is installed in rack 1 and the SAXC is installed into
rack2, these are normally next to each other.
Each IDU will have a 2Mb
PIU (plug-in unit) installed into it, from this PIU, E1 tributary
cables will be installed and be presented to the appropriate IFUA
card in the SAXC.
The SAXC will already be installed
into rack 2. This rack will have two lengths of E4 (60 x 40mm) finger
trunking already installed, i.e. one up each side.
The tops of rack 1 and
rack 2 will be connected by one length of E28 (120mm x 40mm) finger
trunking. This will already be installed.
Inside rack 1, on the
lefthand side will be one length of E28 trunking, this will be
already installed.
Label up each end of the
E1 trib leads with facing port information.
Remove the covering
from the finger trunking before starting work.
The SAXC comprises two
AXC units.
The E1 tribs from the
lefthand AXC will be run up the trunking on the left side of rack 2.
The E1 tribs from the
righthand AXC will be run up the trunking on the right side of rack
2.
