Installation of E1 cables at THS between FIU-19 and SAXC

This work instruction is for the installation of E1 cables between the Flexihopper IDU (indoor unit) and the SAXC (stand alone ATM cross-connect) at THS (transmission high sites)

At the THS the Flexihopper IDU is installed in rack 1 and the SAXC is installed into rack2, these are normally next to each other.

Each IDU will have a 2Mb PIU (plug-in unit) installed into it, from this PIU, E1 tributary cables will be installed and be presented to the appropriate IFUA card in the SAXC.

The SAXC will already be installed into rack 2. This rack will have two lengths of E4 (60 x 40mm) finger trunking already installed, i.e. one up each side.

The tops of rack 1 and rack 2 will be connected by one length of E28 (120mm x 40mm) finger trunking. This will already be installed.

Inside rack 1, on the lefthand side will be one length of E28 trunking, this will be already installed.

Label up each end of the E1 trib leads with facing port information.

Remove the covering from the finger trunking before starting work.

The SAXC comprises two AXC units.
The E1 tribs from the lefthand AXC will be run up the trunking on the left side of rack 2.

The E1 tribs from the righthand AXC will be run up the trunking on the right side of rack 2.
